DAVE FREIREICH
Lead Writer, Editor, Super Genius
I was raised by a flock of wild waitresses in the dark suburbs of gloomy San Diego. After attending UCSD and leaving in disgust, no, not disgust. What’s the word? Ambivalence. After leaving UCSD in a huff of ambivalence, I lead a promising career as a pizza technician. Eventually I went back to school and landed in software testing, but that just pays the bills. My real love has always been writing, and I write about what I know, geek culture and media. The first thing I remember watching on TV was a Godzilla movie. I’ve been into comics since I was seven, and my collection fills an entire room of our house. My Dad took me to my first San Diego Comic Con when I was 11, and I’ve only missed two since then. I have straight up geek cred, yo. When I’m not working my day job, or working on Elder5.com, I’m probably reading comics, gaming, or watching something on Syfy. If I’m not doing that, I might actually be working on my novel. I’m also available for freelance writing and editing chores. If you want to reach me, send email to – dave@elder5.com or use the contact form.
WINDEE FREIREICH
Web Design, Art Director
You may have noticed a similarity in last names here. It’s true; I am Dave’s wife. Now, I’m sure you’re whispering something about nepotism here, but I made the site; so he has little choice in the matter. My journey here has been an odd one. After working as a Vascular Ultrasound Technologist (technologist NOT technician – very important distinction)
I couldn’t take the lack of creativity and went back to school and transformed myself into a Web Designer. Voila! Turns out it’s not nearly as glamorous and awe-inspiring as I had hoped but at least no one smells like pee. Well, almost no one. OK, a lot LESS people smell like pee. You know who you are. I work for a local radio station conglomerate during the day and freelance at night. In my spare time. Who am I kidding, there is no such thing as spare time. IF I had spare time I would dabble in photography, mosaics and whatever caught my eye. Like resin jewelry. Oh- I love to give advice too. If you need any – about web stuff, life or whatever – email me. windee@elder5.com
