Just like the show, this post is for adults, or at least people old enough to be adults even if they really aren’t anything like adults. Just like the show, this post includes sex, violence, and swearing. Well, it has swearing anyway.
The first half of this week’s True Blood was pure awesome. After Sookie swore her eternal hatred for Eric, the big three of Sookie, Bill, and Tara were each paired off with their current nemesises (nemesi?). This made for some dramatic action, including Tara manipulating Franklin, and drinking V straight from the source, Franklin’s neck. Lorena tied up Bill and tortured him nearly to the final death, but not before Bill made her cry blood with manipulations of his own. Sookie had her very own interview with a Vampire, or in this case with Russell, the Vampire King of Mississippi. To top that off, our man Lafayette finally made a fatal mistake and smiled. As we learned last time, if you smile in Bon Temps you are doomed, DOOMED.
Then it all just stops. For the next ten minutes, the story just stopped. Maybe it wasn’t even ten minutes, but it felt like hours. It felt like I was watching my favorite show and someone changed the channel. It felt like the network cur from the last few minutes of the best football game ever to show me Heidi! That’s right, we cut to Sam, and the Sam clan. Soooo boring! All that cool stuff and then we cut to a family drama, and a bad family drama at that. Stop it, True Blood, just stop it!
After an eternity, we cut back to the coll things going on in Mississippi, but all of the inertia and built up excitement, tension, and dread are gone. Then Tara gets stupid. Tara, you are hanging out with Sookie too much and the stupid is rubbing off. You kill a vampire by staking it, not by bashing it in the head with a mace. Franklin is going to be pissed as hell when he wakes up, and that shit is going to be headed right her way. Tara’s only hope will be to tell Franklin that one of the werewolves bashed him and kidnapped her. That might just work. Otherwise, bye-bye Tara.
